The Story of Rajesh's Crush
Rajesh hails from a middle-class family. A few years
ago, he was studying in a very popular private engineering college of our
country. Now, Rajesh is going
to narrate his story about how he had a crush in the college, how she became
her girlfriend and what happened with their lives later. So, let’s hear what
Rajesh wants to say.
When I first entered the College………..
When I first entered the college I was feeling a
little low. It was not that nobody liked to interact with me or teased me for
something, in fact, I had made a few friends that day (First day of my college).
Here is the reason why I was feeling low that day. That day, almost all the
freshers whom I had noticed had some friends in the college whom they knew
before (friends from childhood, previous school, college, etc), but that was
not the case with me. As the days passed, I moved on from that low feeling and
got synchronized with the college-life.
Talking about crush
If someone is talking about his school or college life
then it’s impossible that he doesn’t talk about his crush/es. Till that time I
never had a girlfriend in my life. It was not that I wasn’t good-looking,
weird, not-interesting. In fact, I was very good, according to me. Till that
time I used to have a crush on any beautiful girl but then there was one girl
Shivangi on whom I had a huge crush on. My eyes used to look out for her every day
in the college.
One day at the college, I was looking at Shivangi with
lots of love for her in my eyes but also filled with little shyness. While
looking at her, I used to look away from her whenever I got the thought that she
would catch me doing the same. That time, Himanshu came to me and asked,
“What’s up buddy?”
Me (while slightly looking at Shivangi) to
Himanshu: All good. And how are you near me today? I think I
have always seen you near girls or surrounded by them. (Here, 'Me' refers to Rajesh)
Himanshu: Yeah. I love
making friends.
Me: Friends or girlfriends?
Himanshu: You can say
it any way you want. Don’t you like having friends? You should have more
friends, if you don’t do so, it’s going to be very difficult for you in this
college.
Me: Who told you that? I don’t
think so. I don’t need many friends, I need good friends.
Himanshu: Okay. ‘Mr. I
Know Everything’.
After this conversation or argument with Himanshu, I
went to my friends.
Ashutosh (after seeing me): Where
were you?
Bismoy: Looking at
his (Rajesh) face I think he was having a fight with someone.
Me: Yeah. That Himanshu was
messing with me.
Ashutosh: Okay okay let
it be. Have you submitted your practical notebook?
Me: No. Why?
Ashutosh: Almost
everybody has submitted their practical notebooks and tomorrow is the last date
to do the same.
Bismoy: Don’t worry Rajesh. He is just making it sound worse. There are many students left.
Me (being tensed): I think I
need to worry. I have not written about the last experiment in my practical notebook
yet.
Ashutosh: Why?
Me: I was absent on the day of the
experiment.
Bismoy (after he remembers something): Wait
a minute. Himanshu had completed his practical notebook the day after day of the
experiment, and Himanshu was not present in today’s class like you. So, you go
to him, take his notebook, complete your notebook and submit it. Then, your
problem is over.
Me: Yeah. You are right. I have no
choice. I have to do it.
Then, I went near Himanshu.
Me (to Himanshu): Hey buddy
Hims. I need your help buddy.
Himanshu: What? Are you
asking me for your help? Really? Is it not the first time you are asking me for
help?
Me: I am not joking buddy. I
really need your help and also I am very sorry for being rude to you earlier
today.
Himanshu: Okay. Say how
can I help you?
Me: I need your practical notebook
as I was absent on the day of the experiment and tomorrow is the last date for
submitting it.
Himanshu: Oh! That notebook.
It’s not with me right now.
Me: I said sorry to you. I really
need your notebook now. Please give that to me.
Himanshu: I really
can’t. I have given it to Natasha.
Me: Great. For the first time, I
need your help and you pissed me off.
Vikash (Vikash was standing near Himanshu): You
are absolutely right Rajesh. He (Himanshu) just pisses off everyone except
girls. Natasha hadn’t even asked him for helping her, in fact, he gave away
his practical notebook to her and said, “No need to say thank you and
return the notebook, just submit mine when you submit yours.”
Me: I live two blocks far from
you. You didn’t give that notebook to me but that girl who lives so far from
your home.
Himanshu (being rude to me): Give
that notebook to you! What’s my gain in doing the same? That practical notebook
is going to gain me Natasha’s friendship and make our bond stronger.
Something happened which I had never expected
Then, something happened which I had never expected. Shivangi,
my crush, came near us and said, “Hi everyone. Is everything alright? I
overheard you guys and it was too noisy. Hey Rajesh, you take my notebook and
cut off your noisy sounds & submit it when you submit yours.”
Me (didn’t know what to say): Yeah…….
Okay…. Thanks.
Shivangi (she was in a rush): Yeah.
Bye.
And Shivangi left from there.
Me: What just happened right now?
Vikash: I think she
likes you.
Me: Really. Do you think so?
Himanshu: I don’t think
so. She was just worried about our noisy sounds.
Me: Okay. Whatever ‘Mr. I Only
Help Girls’.
This way of Shivangi to help me gave me some hope.
The Last Date of Our Practical Notebook
Submission
The next day, the last date of our practical notebook
submission, I had reached college on time as I didn’t want any problems in my
practical marks and couldn’t wait to see someone that day. Almost all the
students were present in the class except some people. Then I saw a ‘beauty
with brain’ Shivangi entering the classroom like the shine of the Sun rising in
the early morning. I was holding my and Shivangi’s practical notebooks. Her
practical notebook seemed like a trophy in my hand at that time. Before she
could see me looking at her like an idiot I submitted my and her practical notebooks
where they were meant to be.
When I turned back after submitting the practical notebooks,
Shivangi was near me looking at me.
Shivangi (with a smile): Hi.
After seeing her lovely smile on her beautiful face, I
got a little nervous. I was trying to say so many things to her but no word was
coming out of my mouth, but I was trying.
Me: Hi………. Have you had your
breakfast?
Me (in my mind to myself): Oh
my God. What did I just say? Am I crazy or what?
Shivangi: Yeah. I have
had my breakfast. Have you?
Me: Yeah. Me too.
Shivangi: I saw what
you did………..
Before she could complete her sentence, I said,
“Yeah you are right. I have submitted your and my practical notebooks &
thanks for the help.”
Shivangi (being a little surprised): Yeah.
I saw that too, but I was talking about something else.
Me: Oh. What?
Shivangi: I saw you
were staring at me that day.
Me (being worried and little scared): Ohh
no. You found out. I am so sorry about that. I would not do that ever.
Shivangi: Are you
crazy? Why wouldn’t you do that? I know you like me. It’s all crystal clear the
way you were looking at me.
Me: Yeah. I love you.
Shivangi: But why do
you always shy away? Why didn’t you ever come and talk to me?
Me: What do you think, would not
have I tried? But whenever I see you I just get lost in looking at you and
looking at you more and more. You can’t imagine what peace I get in my mind and
heart when I see you smiling and being happy. A few minutes ago, when you came
to me I was struggling to make a sentence to tell you.
Shivangi (blushingly): Really?
Am I that good?
Me: You are awesome.
Shivangi: I also find
you very cute and also like the way you look at me.
Lecturer: Silence
everyone. Go to your respective seats and listen to me very carefully…………..
I and Shivangi went to our respective seats.
Throughout the class, we were looking at each other and smiling.
After the class ended, I went to her and said, “Let’s
have lunch together today.”
Shivangi: Sure.
I was loving the fact that I was getting comfortable
with my crush. It felt great.
We went to our college canteen for lunch. We ordered
our food and kept talking about ourselves with each other.
Shivangi: So, is it a
date?
Me: I don’t know. Maybe. I have
only seen dates on movies.
Shivangi: Ha ha ha.
What a cute laughter it was.
Me: Don’t you think we should hang
out like this regularly?
Shivangi: That’s not a
bad idea. I want to know more about you. What do you like to do?
Me: I love to paint and sketch. I
am crazy about paintings ad sketches. I love to tell stories through my
paintings and sketches.
Shivangi: I would like
to see them.
Me: Sure. Why not? What do you
like?
Shivangi: I like
freedom the most. I want to be independent, earn a lot of money, live my life
being happy and with peace.
Me: Wow. You are just great.
Shivangi: I want to say
something to you very important.
Me: Yeah. Sure. Please say it.
Shivangi: My previous
relationships failed because they distracted me from my daily routine and life
goals. So, we should not try too hard on this relationship. We will hang out
like friends and do other couple things except compulsory dinner, coffee, gift -exchange
and date remembering.
Me: I have no experience in relationships.
So, we would sail according to you, captain.
Then, I heard the cute laughter again.
We became a couple
After this, we became a great couple, according to me.
We did all the things couples do except those things she had mentioned earlier.
We always met/ talked once or twice a day. When we ate outside, we always split
our bills. There was no surprise birthday party. We always planned the day
before any important occasion. There were small fights and arguments but they
were like the way kids fight. So, we were like two kids who did almost all the
things couples do.
It was the final year of the college, which means it
was the year of placements. Shivangi was crazy that year and was making me
crazy…………………
