Raj’s Old Buddy ‘His Bicycle’
Raj was
getting nostalgic about his school days when he used to go for his school and
other classes riding on his bicycle and roam around his home town with his
friends on their bicycles. He was thinking that how great were those days, he
said to himself, “cycling around the town after the classes used to be so
refreshing then. I miss those days so much.”
After
getting a feeling about those days, he planned to keep aside his books and
worked for some time to go for bicycling the next day as he was in his home town
for some days. That moment he promised to himself that he would try to cover as
much distance of his town he can (keeping in mind his stamina and fitness) on
the next day’s evening.
He
made sure that the bicycle is ready to be ridden on
The next
thing he did was checking the flaws in his bicycle which had not been ridden on
for a while, then, he made sure that the bicycle is ready to be ridden on. That
day, at around 10’ o clock in the morning, he made phone calls to his friends in
the town and invited them to be on his journey of bicycling with their
bicycles. Some of the friends were busy that day and also didn’t agree to do
the same any other day. Some said his (Raj) idea was crazy, some said that they
didn’t have bicycles that time and some did not want to do the same. He felt a
little disappointed after hearing these things from his friends but he had made
up his mind about bicycling the next day.
Then, it
was the time for his (Raj) journey with his old buddy from the school time ‘The
Bicycle’. Wait a second. I forgot to mention that it was not a sports bicycle with
gears, it was a simple gearless bicycle. He sat on the bicycle’s seat,
put some force on the pedals and felt a little awkwardness as he was riding on
it after a lot of time but it was still his bicycle, his old partner in crime.
So, the journey had begun.
On
The Way……………..
On the way,
he was tempted by the delicious looking and wonderfully smelling street food,
but he calmed himself and decided to have a taste of those street foods (one of
them or two) while returning home when he would be feeling hungry after the
bicycling like the school days. His initial target was to reach a jogger’s park
which was 8kms away from his home, then after having a small break at the park,
he would see where he could go next.
After
reaching the Park
After
reaching the park, he parked his bicycle in the parking area. Then, he entered
the park. When he entered the park a refreshing evening breeze of air passed by
him. He sat on one of the rest-benches of the park and started watching the kids playing
in the park which was reminding him of his childhood.
He
planned the next route of his journey
After 15
minutes he planned the next route of his journey. The route also had his school
on its way. He took his bicycle from the parking area and resumed his journey.
He was sneaking through the typical Indian traffic with his bicycle and was
loving the murmuring of the crowds, sounds of the vehicles as after so many
years he was experiencing all these things. He was enjoying the way he was able
to pass through the smaller ways quickly and easily but the hunky motor-bikes and cars
near him were not able to do the same.
He
was getting nearer to his School
He was
getting nearer to his school, when the school was on his side, he put brakes on
his bicycle and stopped there for a while. He noticed how it was before and how
it has become more developed and beautiful, but the old school with its old
bunch of kids had its own charm.
Then,
he was returning home
Then, he
was returning home by a route that had river by its side due to which he was
enjoying some cool breezes of air on the way. He had started getting a little
tired, was hungry and sweating a lot, he had also lessened the pace of his
bicycle. Before reaching home, he went to the street food center, waited for
himself to dry off his sweat, drank some water and ordered a ‘Masala Dosa’ and
two ‘samosas’ with ‘Hari Chutney’. After having these foods and before going to
his home he thought,
“This feels
awesome. I should do this once or twice every week as it’s a good exercise
(keeping in mind his sweat on his body). It also acts as a great motivation for
achieving goals by taking the path of small goals like my goal of cycling after
a long time even when no friend of mine didn’t agree to do the same with me.”
Though the
next day was not an easy day for Raj as his body was a little stiff after
cycling the previous day, he knew stuff about workouts and the rest needed for
the body to recover which kept his mind firm on his decision of cycling once or
twice in a week. He also kept doing the same.
Awesome!
