People and their Moods
You might have seen people with different moods. Some
people carry the same mood most of the times, I mean to say that you might have
known people who have a happy face most of the times or the ones who usually
look not so happy or angry.
Let’s try to get an idea or two about moods through
Rahul and Sujal.
Rahul woke up early
On a random day, Rahul woke up early from his sleep
like any other day. After brushing his teeth, he saw plenty of good morning
messages on his phone. Then, he started getting ready for the office, while
doing the same he was whistling his favorite song which shows how nice was the
beginning of his day. While whistling he went towards his toast, had them and
went near his bike, sat on it, started it and left for his office.
After entering the office, Rahul………..
After entering his office, greeted everyone he met by
saying, ‘Good Morning’ very sweetly and also got the same sweet response, then,
he started doing his works. A few hours later, he got the news that he was on
the list of employees who were going to get bonuses this month. I think these
are enough to get that Rahul was in a very good mood that day and the things
above had a great role to play for getting that mood.
Sujal that day
Let’s know how the same day went for Sujal. That day,
Sujal woke up after hearing the annoying sound of the alarm on his mobile
phone. When he looked at his phone, it was 8:09 AM, but, he had set the alarm
to ring at 7:00 AM, so he had no choice but to rush to his office. After
finding nothing for his breakfast (as he had forgotten the bread the previous
day), he decided to eat at the office. Then he got ready with his clothes,
started his bike and left for the office and got stuck in a traffic jam.
Obviously, due to the traffic jam, he reached the office late, heard some
sarcastic comments from his boss, felt guilty, worked overtime (to manage the
lateness in the office). Now, we don’t have to guess much what his mood might
have been.
From these situations, I was just reminding that for a
person having a certain mood at a time, the events which have occurred to
him/her close to/near the same time, are the reasons for his/her mood at that time.
I think that the reason for people having the same
mood usually is that they are habituated with the circumstances leading to the
mood.
I forgot to mention that Rahul usually has a happy
mood whereas Sujal has a not so happy mood most of the times.
Rahul and Sujal were in opposite Situations
One day, both Rahul and Sujal were in opposite
situations. I mean to say that Rahul woke up late that day and Sujal woke up
early. Let’s see what happened next that day.
Rahul woke up late that day
Let’s start with Rahul. As I had said earlier that
Rahul woke up late that day. So, for the same reason, he rushed for his office,
didn’t take bath that day, picked up his deodorant & made full use of it,
took an apple from the bowl full of apples &had some bites of it, left for
the office on his bike and stuck in a traffic jam. He utilized his time in the
traffic jam very well rather than complaining about it. He laughed at himself
while thinking, “There is no way I am going to reach the office in time today.”
Then he thought about how he should apologize to his boss for his lateness and
get some not so bad responses from him (boss).
When Rahul entered the office late
When he entered the office, the boss was passing by.
The boss asked, “why are you so late today? I don’t expect this from you.”
Rahul said, “I am very sorry sir but my body was very exhausted last night and
it needed plenty of time to recover & also my bike had a little problem
while coming to the office, so, I had to fix it. I thought that it’s better to
fix it today and be a little late rather than being late for many more days for
the same problem.” The boss said, “Oh. Okay Okay. You did the right thing
fixing it. You look a bit exhausted. Take a 10-minute break and get to your
works.”
So, as you can see, Rahul’s lateness did not affect
him as he is habituated with taking positives from situations which works very
well for having a good mood. On the other hand, Sujal’s day went nice. He took
a sigh of relief as nothing happened bad for him that day. So, basically, the
day went nice for Sujal but to make his day from ‘nice’ to ‘great’ &
getting habituated with taking positives from situations, he needs to take a
lesson or two from someone like Rahul.
At last, I want to end with the line, “Mood depends upon
situations and more on how you deal with the situations.”
