Introduction What are the things needed for completing a work successfully? The answers to this question would be like the following. Some would say hard-work, some would say luck, presence of mind, curiosity, speed, talent, patience, etc. But all these things are of no use if there is no 'will' to do the required work. Explaining About Willpower Through our Daily Life Stuff Doing a work without a will is like eating something you don’t want to eat or eating when you are not hungry. And if you do eat when you are not hungry then it doesn't feel like eating the way it should be. Let us take an example of a car which has an auto-driving mode, good mileage, good shock absorbing facility, enough space for storing stuff and seating space for enough people. However, the value of all these features would be zero if there is no fuel. So, in our case, will acts as fuel for doing a work successfully. Leicester’s City Football Club's English Premier Leag...
One guy after putting some things into his backpack moved ahead on a street. The street wasn’t crowded very much but it wasn’t lonely as well. While walking on the street, the backpack guy reached the location of a bus stop and stopped there. At that time at the bus stop, a bus having a lot of people going towards their destinations arrived, and around 4-5 people got out of the bus. One lady and one guy among those people kept walking after getting out of the bus and the others remained there at the bus stop. The backpack guy went towards a guy who was standing at the bus stop wearing a dark blue formal shirt and black pants. Backpack guy: Hi. Blue shirt guy: Hello. Backpack guy: Are you waiting for someone to pick you up from here? Blue shirt guy: Yes, I am waiting for another bus that would take me to my place. Backpack guy: Before you get into a bus you might like some things that I have. Let me show you. The backpack guy took out very well and neatly f...
There was a match of a tournament going on somewhere. It was an Inter School Cricket tournament. The batsman batting at that time was being easy on the bowlers. He was playing grounded and defensive shots as he was taking his time adjusting himself well for playing big shots later. That time, one of the teachers of some school said to another teacher, “Why is he in the team? He has not even hit a sixer till now from the morning. He is doing nothing but boring everyone.” In reply to this, the other teacher said, “why do you think so? Be positive. He is just taking his time. He is getting ready for a bigger inning. They are young children. Let’s motivate them. Winning is not everything, the improvement and development of the students are more important . So, just keep calm and relax.” Observation of the Scenario In this scenario, we can observe two kinds of people and they are the two mentioned teachers. The first teacher seemed both demotivating and impatient but the oth...
In my childhood, after seeing my sad face, my mother used to say, “God has given equal abilities to everyone, we should never feel lesser than anyone.” Then, I used to believe that and smile back to my mother. But now, I think that the Almighty has made all of us different from others so that we can make our own identity different from others and the difference comes from lots of stuff. So that we don’t look like a copy or replica of others. Usually, we don’t get this and try to do blindly what others are doing without knowing ourselves properly. Everybody begins his/her life in different surroundings. A person gets his/her qualities from the surroundings where he/she spends his her time. An Example of how Rohan and his life can be different from others Let’s have a look at this scenario. There is a boy named Rohan. Both of his parents are working. Everybody knows the amount of responsibilities parents have on their shoulders as both of their parents work...
What does ‘Me Time’ mean to me? ‘Me Time’ means a lot to me. It makes me enter a zone where I can keep account of my good works & mistakes of my past and the stuff which I have to do which I feel would be good for me. The good works whether small or big make me motivated especially in the times when I don’t feel so good about myself. The mistakes make me check on the stuff in which I have to learn from or improve in. After thinking about these past stuff, I plan things for moving ahead in my ways and do a little Pranayama and exercises. I do these things because I think they are going to be beneficial to me. ‘Me Time’ is very important to me We go through many situations in our life. We get many thoughts in our mind. We meet different people with different mindsets whether they are our relatives, friends or any stranger. Apart from these, we also have certain duties and goals in our life which sometimes get away from our sight because of the above-mentioned ...
In test cricket, a batsman’s most prior motive is to stay at the crease as much as he can, score as many runs as possible during his stay. As we all know that it is not mandatory for a test batsman to score runs in a particular number of overs. So, it becomes very important in test cricket to wait for the playable deliveries from the bowler for scoring runs and defending or leaving the unplayable deliveries. If any batsman goes for the unplayable delivery for scoring, then he has a great chance of being dismissed and troubling his team. Can life be looked upon as test cricket? I always feel that our life is also like test cricket where we are like the batsmen in the game. We face many opportunities, challenges, and problems in our life. The opportunities, challenges, and problems act like balls bowled to us in our lives. In my opinion, we should try to score fours and sixes on opportunities, that is, making most of them, take runs between the wickets on the challenges or you ...
If you are a spider-man movie fan, then you must have heard this dialogue, “with great power, comes great responsibility”. I just want to add something to this dialogue, “With great responsibility, come greater distractions”. Yes, you heard right, distraction is a thing, which no one would not have faced. Distractions While Exams(especially during board exams) Now, it is the time of board exams, who would be better than the students to ask about the distractions at this time. Most of the students read the textbook with the distraction of reading the text messages on the phone. What is the reason for this distraction? It’s because today’s students are habituated with chatting through phones. Is it really a distraction for the students. I think students don’t take this as a distraction but their parents do. At first, I said, “with great responsibility, come greater distractions”. In this case, parents see the board exams as a responsibility, and the other things studen...
When you have a work in hand, always start from the basics. Complete the basic, smaller and easier parts of the work, first. If you do so, then you feel fresher, positive and confident to do the rest of the work. Practically, you can examine that the people who work out the basic, easier and smaller parts initially, complete the work more successfully than the ones who do not do the same. So, start from the basics and start easy.
Those were the days of the year 2010 , Vijay had only one exam left of his 10 th Board Examinations. The last exam was scheduled to be on the next day. He had the books and notebooks ahead of him, related to the subject he had exam of. His eyes were on the pages of the books & notebooks, and he was thinking about how to answer what kind of questions, what kind of questions he should answer first, had he read enough to get good marks in the exam, and how his life was going to be after the exam. He had a little bit of nervousness about the exam and a lot of excitement about the exam getting over. One of the reasons for his excitement was also that the results were going to be announced after around 2 months unlike in the cases of other final exams he had appeared from the beginning of his school days till class- ix, where the results used to get announced within 10 days of the last exam. The Exams got Over Finally, Vijay’s exams were over. That time, how good or bad his e...
Kashish, Rohan, and Rahul were hanging out at Rahul’s place. Kashish: Are you scared? Rohan: Scared? Me? Yeah. A little bit. Kashish: You should be scared as in the previous meeting you had very much opened your mind. Rohan: But, what’s wrong in having an open mind? Kashish (with a little anger towards Rohan): Nothing is wrong with your open-mind. The things which are really wrong are the things which you had said to my father that day. Rohan (with a shocking reaction to what Kashish said, the reaction had a little bit anger too): Oh my God. Are you serious? Never in my life, I have spoken any bad words to or for your father. Kashish (continuing her anger): I am not talking about that, you idiot. It’s about…………… Flashback At Kashish’s home, Kashish’s Father (to Rohan): I have no problem with you two being in a relationship and I don’t mind that she is earning more than you, but, you should earn a certain amount and know the art of saving to ...
In a classroom of class-III (class of 8 year old kids in India),...........Tushar was sitting next to Amit Tushar (whispering to Amit, while the teacher was teaching in the classroom): Do you know, what does my father do? Amit (whispers back to Tushar): Of course, I know. He drops you at the school every day. The whispering continues……………………… Tushar: You idiot, I meant to say, do you know what’s his profession? Amit: I know that too. He is an engineer. Tushar: But, do you know what type of engineer he is and what he does in his office? Amit: No,…….. Not exactly………… I don’t know. Tushar (lies to Amit, being inspired by some TV shows and cartoons): I am gonna tell you that today, please don’t tell about it to anyone. He creates robots that look like human beings. He is a Robotic………..Robotnic Engineer, something like that. The teacher shouts , “Silence everyone.” One day, at the playground, during recess, Rishi (to Tushar): Has Amit gone ...
It was 11:32 in the morning that day. Dhruv was sitting in the stands of his college cricket ground all alone. He took out the mobile phone from the left pocket of his pant and went on to phone-call Sanket. After 2-3 rings, Sanket picked up the call. Sanket (to Dhruv in the phonecall): Yeah. Say. Dhruv: Why didn’t you come to college today? Sanket: I didn’t feel like going to college today. Yesterday, I had a hectic day due to the practical sessions in the college and some other personal stuff. So, I thought that I should take a day off today. Dhruv (with a little laugh in his tone): You are talking like you have taken a day off from the office instead of college. Sanket: Yeah-yeah, but trust me, yesterday in the college seemed like a day in the office. Dhruv: Okay, keep that aside. I have messed up something and I thought that I would feel better & lighter if I share it with you. Sanket: Yeah. Say it and feel as much light as you want, but do it quickly as I ...

One day, in the afternoon, at a railway station, Ramesh booked a train-ticket for himself and got on a train with his small backpack . The heat was not much that day, but also the weather that day, was not utterly pleasant. Ramesh started searching for his seat by looking at the seat number on his ticket and checking the numbers on the respective seats of the train with the one on the ticket. In a few minutes, he found his seat by passing through the standing passengers and wandering vendors of snacks and Tea. After seeing his seat, he thanked God that it was near the window, he didn’t have to climb up for his seat and the chances of arguments regarding exchanging seats, seemed very low as people around his seat, were sitting very comfortably on their seats, especially the gentleman and the kid (A girl) with him, opposite his (Ramesh) seat. The guy and the kid seemed like father and daughter . The kid was smiling and giggling very cutely and was very playful with her f...

Advik had reached his home from the school at around 3:00 PM like every day. His mom then served lunch for him on the dining table. After freshening up, Advik had his lunch and went to take a nap in his room. Then, the clock in his room was showing 3:32 PM. After about 2 hours and 30 minutes, Advik’s mom began trying to wake him up for his coaching classes , which resulted in Advik changing his sleeping positions and not trying to wake up. But, when his mom aggressively shook him up, he had to wake up. Then, he got ready for his coaching classes, put the required books and notebooks in his bag, and went for his coaching center by riding on his bicycle. He had classes from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM that day in the coaching center. His friend Lokesh with his (Lokesh’s) bicycle joined him on his way. After reaching the coaching center, he parked his bicycle where he usually parks and locked the bicycle, Lokesh also did the same. He then entered the classroom with Lo...

In a restaurant, Arush saw that a guy was arguing very angrily with the manager because of the bill he had got. The manager was trying to make him understand the matter politely but the angry guy was not in the mood of understanding anything. Arush couldn’t stop himself from getting into the matter. He (Arush) asked both of them (The manager and the angry guy ) about the matter. Both of them told Arush their versions of the matter. After hearing from both of them, Arush got that the angry guy was at fault. when he told the same to the guy, the guy pushed Arush, punched the manager and was rushing nearer to him (manager) to give him few more punches. The angry guy was getting uncontrollable. He was threatening the manager. He took out his phone and said to the manager, “ Now, I will show you what happens with people who mess with me. ” It seemed like he (the angry guy) was going to call some people like him to create some mess there. Suddenly, Arush hit the guy’s hand with h...
