I know someone named Rahul who always wants to make his life and almost everything around him easier and smarter.

At the time when mobile phones were new

At the time when mobile phones were new, Rahul's family members were among the first buying them (mobile phones). One day, when I saw one mobile phone in his hand (for the first time, I saw that thing), I asked him, “Is that a mobile phone?”

Rahul said, “Yeah, look at it, isn’t it cool?”

I said, “Why did you buy that for so much, just to pick it in your pocket? You already have a landline phone which does the same work which your mobile can do. ”

He said, “Look. Using a landline, you can only make a phone call from your phone, but by using a mobile phone you can send short messages to another mobile phone, you can call from wherever you want, you don’t even need a P.C.O for that. It can help you in urgency or passing important information away from home.”

Then many years later, one day, I saw a smart-phone in his hand. Till that time I had bought a mobile phone but it was not smart enough. I asked him, “A smart-phone! What was the need for that?”

He said, “Yes. See, this has internet, many cool games, awesome music player, apps and many more. It can also do multitasking which means that one can run more than one application at one time. By using the apps on this phone, I can e-mail, do social networking, online shopping and many things which help in my day to day activities.”

I said, “Wow. Great.”

Some years later, one evening, I saw a brand new watch tied around his wrist. This time before I could ask him anything about it, he started talking to his watch. Then, I asked him, “Now what were you doing to your watch? Talking to it?”

He said, “Where were you? I was waiting for you and your questions? Now, I go back to your question. Right now, I was making a phone call through my brand new smart-watch.”

I said, “First a smart-phone, now a smart-watch!”

He said, “Yeah, and it’s definitely a smarter than yours and my previous watches.”

I said, “Oh please explain its smartness to me.”

He said, “Using this watch, I can make a phone call, listen to music, use different apps and almost everything which you can do using a smart-phone. It can also check my heartbeat and distance covered by me throughout the day for checking my fitness.”

I said, “Awesome, it’s like a small smart-phone tied around your wrist and it can also check your fitness. Cool.”

He said, “You can say that but it would be smarter to call it a smart-watch.”
