What will You like to have Sir?


One fine evening Risabh had gone to a restaurant with his 4 friends. Luckily all of them got a full table to dine.

Then, one waiter came to the table.

Waiter: What will you like to have sir?


Vikash ordered one plate Mughlai paratha, Alok ordered Chicken noodles, both Sushil and Farooq ordered naans & butter chicken. When it came to Risabh, he ordered a Chicken Roll. After hearing Risabh’s order the waiter laughed a little.

Waiter: Okay gentlemen. Your ordered food will be here very soon.

Risabh (to his friends): Guys did you look at how he made fun of me.

Vikash: Don’t take him (the waiter) seriously. I think he usually does this with everyone.

Risabh: Did he do that with all of you? But the point is that he shouldn’t do it. It’s wrong. There may be many reasons of mine for ordering that chicken roll. How can he tease me for something he doesn’t know.

The waiter came to the table with the food Risabh’s friends had ordered.

Waiter: Enjoy your food gentlemen.

Risabh (to the waiter):  Where is my food, sir?

Waiter: Two minutes sir. Actually, no one has ordered Chicken roll today except you. That’s why it’s taking a little much time.

The waiter left the table.

Risabh (to his friends): Now guys, don’t you all think he (the waiter) is crossing the line.

Alok: Chill man. Your food will be here in two minutes. He (the waiter) is only doing his job. I am waiting for your food to arrive and then we would start together.

Risabh (in his mind): Now when he comes, I should talk to him (the waiter) properly.

The waiter came to the table with Risabh’s chicken roll.

Waiter: Here is your chicken roll sir.

Risabh: Ohh. Thank you so much for that sir. Did you know why I order this roll?

Waiter: I think you wanted to eat it, that’s why you might have ordered the same.

Risabh: Nice answer, but sir, without knowing the reason/ reasons of mine ordering a chicken roll instead of butter chicken-naans, chicken noodles and Mughlai Parathas, you gave me a laughter to tease me. You should have at least a very little respect for me as I am your customer. I don’t even know why I am telling you all these. You have just made my time here bad. I wish a nice waiter unlike you would have taken my order.

Waiter: Sorry sir. I didn’t want to offend you. I was just trying to be a little friendly for making you guys comfortable.

Risabh: Sorry sir, you are not my friend, so, you don’t need to be friendly with me. Now sir please let me have my food.

Everyone was eating their food including Risabh.

Risabh to Alok (after eating his chicken roll): I am feeling a little guilty right now. I should not have said those things to him (the waiter). I think I made myself look like a bad guy tonight. I think the things which came out of me tonight with anger was due to my hunger.

Alok: I really don’t know what to tell you right now. I had told you to chill.


Another waiter to the first waiter: I had told you that it doesn’t work in this restaurant. You don’t need to be that friendly with anyone here. Go the basic way, with a gentle smile and nothing more than that.

    i think the waiter gave that smile in the wrong time, he should had to do this when he started taking the orders.

    I am always unsure about how friendly to get with strangers or acquaintances, in a world of outrage, I guess everyone just assumes that whatever the other person is doing is wrong.
