Childhood with Bollywood, Cricket and Kids Shows

When I recall about my childhood, mostly, it is about cricket, Bollywood, and cartoons.

I remember my uncles and cousins visiting our home for lunch on Sunday on the occasion of a cricket match consisting of the Indian Cricket Team.  I was in class II (2nd grade) then and was enjoying some cartoon show, I think it was “Bat-man”, then my father snatched away the t.v. remote from me for watching a cricket match that day. I hated my father that day, because it was going great for me watching Bruce Wayne doing something with his “Extra Large Screen Computer” in the Bat-Cave, wearing the Bat-man suit, taking out weapons from his belt and fighting with the villains like “The Joker”, “The Penguin”,”Two-Face” and many more.

Now, let’s move back to my father, cricket and tv remote. So, I hated him for the 'remote snatching incident' for cricket but now, I am 23 years old, and I do the same thing with others who are younger to me.

I did not know then how the game is celebrated in our country
I hated my father that day because I did not know then how the game is celebrated in our country and, in future, I am also going to be a part of this celebration. Now, about Bollywood, during my childhood, we had a cassette player cum radio. Every day, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, the cassettes of the then Bollywood songs were played in the cassette player. And my favorite part was changing the sides(side A and side B) of the cassettes. In those days, unlike today, newer movies and songs used to take a lot of time to be shown on the t.v. which made this thing more exciting. We used to wait eagerly for Friday 9.00pm and Saturday 10.00pm or 10.30pm for new movies on Doordarshan. When I grew a little bit older, the movies I watched were mostly of Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Salman Khan and Govinda.

Like other kids of my age then, I was crazy for........
Like other kids of my age then, I was crazy for cartoons and other kids shows. As a child, I loved cartoons like “Duck tales”, “TaleSpin”, “Phantom”, and  “He-man”. Then when I grew a little bit older, there was a show called “Fox-kids” which used to show the animated series of “Iron-man”, “The Incredible Hulk”,”The Tick”. At some time of my childhood, I loved the animated series of “The Mask” where a common man wears a wooden mask which brings out the funnier and more powerful side of that man. So, basically my childhood was about watching “Dexter’s Laboratory” on the morning during breakfast, “Swat Kats” after reaching home from school, then playing cricket with my friends, shows like”shaka laka boom boom”, “shaktimaan”, “Superman”,”Batman” and “Justice League” and movies on Sunday. So, this was mine, what about yours?

I just want to add something to this dialogue, “With great responsibility, come greater distractions”. Yes, you heard right, distraction is a thing, which no one would not have faced. Distractions While Exams(especially during board exams) Now, it is the time of board exams, who would be better than the students to ask about the distractions at this time. Most of the students read the textbook with the distraction of reading the text messages on the phone. What is the reason for this distraction? There was a match of a tournament going on somewhere. It was an Inter School Cricket tournament. The batsman batting at that time was being easy on the bowlers. He was playing grounded and defensive shots as he was taking his time adjusting himself well for playing big shots later. That time, one of the teachers of some school said to another teacher, “Why is he in the team? He has not even hit a sixer till now from the morning. He is doing nothing but boring everyone.” In reply to this, the other teacher said, “why do you think so? Be positive. He is just taking his time. He is getting ready for a bigger inning. They are young children. Let’s motivate them. Winning is not everything, the improvement and development of the students are more important .   One guy after putting some things into his backpack moved ahead on a street. The street wasn’t crowded very much but it wasn’t lonely as well. While walking on the street, the backpack guy reached the location of a bus stop and stopped there. What does ‘Me Time’ mean to me? ‘Me Time’ means a lot to me. It makes me enter a zone where I can keep account of my good works & mistakes of my past and the stuff which I have to do which I feel would be good for me.
